Dallas, Florida’s Broward County and Others Object to 3M’s PFAS Settlement

More than 20 cities, counties and other public water systems have objected to settlements with 3M and DuPont over “forever chemicals” in drinking water.

The objectors, which include the city of Dallas and Broward County, Florida, raised concerns that the releases in the settlements were too broad because they absolved 3M and DuPont of claims associated with wastewater and real property cleanup damages, and included entities, such as “interconnected water distribution systems,” that might not know if they are class members. Many are wholesale water providers, and some already face personal injury lawsuits against them.
